Presentation in class of an Alt-Coin. Please choose and research and Alt-Coin, and
prepare a 15-20 minute talk to be presented in class. Have a short write up to leave
with me to remind me of your presentation, for grading.
Please email me with your topic early so we can schedule the class presentation.
Possible Alt-Coins (sample list):
- Dogecoin (DOGE)
- Bitcoin Cash (BCH)
- Litecoin (LTC)
- Monero (XMR)
- Zcash (ZEC) (for anonymity)
- Tether (USDT) (a stable-coin that is fully backed)
- Maker (MKR) (presenting the DAI, a stable-coin with offsetting contracts)
and see some google returned list of alt coins
for more possibilities.
Although you are free to present what is interesting and important to you, there are
standard elements to an Alt Coin that one is always interested in:
- Motivation of the particular alt coin
- The consensus algorithm
- What defeats the sybil attack, e.g. is it Proof of Work, Proof of Stake, etc.
- How are initial coins delivered.
- Is it a side-chain, merge-minded, etc., that is, is there a bootstrap for miners.
- How is the developer community organized.
